Dear Colleagues and Researchers,
A few of us are setting up a new Postgraduate Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (PS-STIS). This is for all PGRs and early career researchers to have an an academic network to exchange and develop ideas regarding science, technology and innovation.
On the 23rd May, at the management school in Sheffield, we are hosting a steering meeting for the forum.
The aims of the meeting will be:
- To introduce ourselves, our interests and begin to form a network of science, technology and innovation studies PhD students and early career researchers
- To set an overall agenda and remit for the forum
- To agree on a provisional set of meetings and workshops (one of which will hopefully be attached to the first AsSIST-UK conference in November)
- To agree on an organising committee
Our current thinking is that there will be a central committee who can award funding to proposals for workshops and symposia. We are therefore looking for people to join the steering meeting who have ideas about future meetings that would benefit our emerging community.
There are a limited number of places and we also have limited travel subsidies available. There will be lunch and refreshments on the day.
If you would like to be a part of PF-STIS, please get in touch via pfgscomm [at] gmail com and outline what you might be able to contribute, any ideas for the forum’s agenda and if you would be able to organise or host a workshop at your institution. Please contact us before 30th April so we can confirm food and travel subsidies provision.
We look forward to hearing from you,
The Organising Committee
